The course provides candidates knowledge of how to manage asbestos in buildings that they responsibility for. It enables candidates to comply with the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations and gives candidates a substantial awareness of the risks associated with asbestos and what to do if they discover it at any time.
The course will be of particular interest to those with a direct or indirect responsibility for the management of asbestos in the workplace. The course also covers the history and types of asbestos used in construction before 1999. The procedures prior to starting work on a building which may have asbestos present and the emergency procedures required if you suspect that asbestos has be disturbed. The PPE required when handling asbestos and the removal and the correct disposal requirements of asbestos.
It is estimated that over two-million workplaces contain asbestos, which remains the single biggest cause of work related deaths in the UK. This course enables those responsible for the building, repair and maintenance of commercial properties to identify and deal with asbestos, and meet their legal ‘Duty to Manage’.
