Pro-active Training offers Apprenticeships in Bricklaying and Groundwork. Our 13 month Apprenticeships are open to 16-18 year old based in Hartlepool and the wider Teesside area.
There are many reasons why learners may want to come on board with Pro-active Training, not only are we one of the fastest growing construction training centres in the North East, but we offer in house training with some of the industry’s leading experts.
Learners will firstly take part in a 12 Pre-apprenticeship that will prepare the learners for the apprenticeship they will be taking part in.
During the initial 12 week course, learners will take part in soft functional skills and all relevant Health & Safety Training, as well a obtaining their CSCS card allowing them to progress onto the apprenticeship, and get straight out on site. Students will also take part in CV building and Interview skills training.
Once the Apprenticeship gets started, learners will spend 4 weeks in the training centre, honing their manual skills and completing diploma work. When the 4 weeks is up, the learners will then go onto a real building site for 4 weeks, working with tradesmen and builders who are contracted through Brickwork Services Ltd, Pro-active safety’s sister company.
They will put their skills to good use whilst on site, all the while gaining evidence for their NVQ. One of Pro-active Training’s On-site assessors will be on hand, taking pictures of the work they produce as their NVQ evidence for their portfolios.
Learners will then come back into the centre and spend 4 weeks on diploma work and honing more skills, this will be on a rotation basis for 1 year and 1 day, until the apprenticeship has been completed. The learners will then receive a Level 2 Diploma and NVQ 2 in the subject they are learning.
Students will take part in the apprenticeship Monday to Thursday 9.00am until 4.30pm and will receive a 30 hour contract of employment. Learners will also receive a weekly age of £105 whilst training. (wage increase from April 2017)
As students come to the end of their course, its important for us to assess how each student want to progress. There are a number of options available to them;
- Progress onto a level 3 Apprenticeship (supervisory level)
- Achieve full time employment
- Progress onto level 3 in the Armed Forces
- Progress into the Health and Safety side of Construction
Some students that come and train with us, have the opportunity to progress and gain full time employment as a bricklayer straight away, dependent on level of commitment on the course and the availability of positions available.
