An apprenticeship is a fantastic way to jump start a young persons career, rather than paying tuition fees an apprenticeship offers learners a debt-free route into a career, and available now with Pro-active Training. It may sound appealing to a young person, but sometimes they may not be ready to commit to a year long apprenticeship as of yet. Some learners may want to build some experience and test the water with a shorter course – in which the learner may want to consider a Pre-apprenticeship with us.
Pro-active Training’s Pre-Apprenticeship is a 12 week course and offers learners the experience to get them ready for an apprenticeship or even full-time work. To qualify for this programme, learners need to be
- Eligible to work in England
- Currently out of work
- Aged 16-18
- Have qualifications below level 3 (equivalent to A-Levels) and no previous Level 2 qualifications in Brickwork, Plumbing, joinery, plastering or painting or decorating.
Our Traineeship is a high-quality work placement, and ideal for learners with little or no work experience. It will help build confidence while offering learners an insight into the world of Construction. During the Traineeship, learners will gain invaluable Health and Safety Training including:
- CSCS Training
- Asbestos Awareness
- Working from Height
- Masonry Saw Training
- Working in Confined Spaces
- Face Fit Testing
- Ladder Awareness
Learners will also gain training in basic work preparation skills like interview techniques, time-keeping and working as part of a team. If Necessary, learners will also be able to improve their core skills in Maths and English.
Unlike apprenticeships, learners are not paid for their time, but we are happy to give learners a weekly travel allowance so they are not left out of pocket as a result of the traineeship. Some learners may be able to apply for a 16-19 Bursary Fund for a grant to help support them (if applicable)
Pro-active Training works in partnership with Brickwork Services Ltd, and closely with other training providers to help build the relevant skills for the role the learners and working in. They also receive mentoring support as they learn.
Towards the end of the Traineeship, learners are given an exit interview. We discuss with the learner how they got on and offer advice if they don’t wish to pursue the apprenticeship. We also offer a reference which can be used to help learners land a job elsewhere.
Most students who take part in our Traineeship programmes are able to advance straight into the apprenticeship with us. This allows learners to take their learning to the next level once they have built up enough experience.
